To improve efficiency of supply chain system operations, decrease transportation costs, and improve load building productivity within the SAP environment.
General Mills combined ORTEC Load Building optimization with vendor managed inventory. The strategy improved utilization, and by leveraging SAP, reduced transportation costs by millions and planning time by half. ORTEC software optimized:
- material and carton, sequencing rules, center of gravity/axle weight calculations, pack strategies and stackability of orders
- using ORTEC solutions for SAP, General Mills also increased truckload capacity, shipping an additional three to four pallets per truck
