ORTEC Announces Optimize the World Community Relations Initiative in Atlanta in Celebration of 35th Anniversary
ORTEC, in celebration of its 35th Anniversary, has announced an Atlanta-based community relations initiative that falls under the umbrella of the global Optimize the World sustainability program. The Optimizing the World program was born out of a desire to make a real difference in four key areas: the Environment, Humanity, Sports and Education. To date, ORTEC has partnered globally with The North Star Alliance, USAID, World Health Organization and many others, providing technology and manpower to deliver critical health care and famine relief.
ORTEC’s North American headquarters has chosen the following Atlanta-based organizations to support: The Atlanta Mission, Chattahoochee River Keeper, Children’s Restoration Network, Racheals Rest and STEM Georgia.
“ORTEC has helped millions of people across the African continent to receive critical health care and emergency food relief and we are proud to continue this tradition in Atlanta,” stated ORTEC Partner Bobby Miller. “Helping The Atlanta Mission feed and shelter the homeless in Atlanta this winter opened our eyes to how great the need is and how significantly local companies can positively impact the communities we live and work in.”
“We are grateful for ORTEC’s contributions during the first quarter of 2016 during the cold winter season,” stated Jim Reese, Atlanta Mission President & CEO. “A meal is often the first step toward complete transformation and new beginnings for many of our struggling neighbors.”
ORTEC is River Conservator at 6th Annual Sweep the Hooch
ORTEC’s most recent community relations splash took place Saturday, April 9, 2016, when the ORTEC team joined Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, Trout Unlimited, and the National Park Service in a massive multi-site clean-up of the Chattahoochee River. More than 500 volunteers removed 15 tons of trash over 70 river miles. Chattahoochee Riverkeeper’s (CRK) mission is to advocate and secure the protection and stewardship of the Chattahoochee River, its tributaries and watershed, in order to restore and preserve their ecological health for the people and wildlife that depend on the river system.
"Community engagement and sustainability are important core values at ORTEC," stated ORTEC Executive Partner Jeff Bailey. “We are pleased that the ORTEC Living and Giving Committee has galvanized our team to make an impact at home."
Celebrating 35 Years of Innovation
A highly innovative company, ORTEC recruits the brightest mathematics and engineering talents keeping ORTEC at the forefront of mathematical modeling, optimization and analytics. ORTEC was founded in 1981 by five Econometrics students at Erasmus University Rotterdam on the premise that mathematical theories and algorithms could be practically applied to significantly improve business performance. Two of those founders continue to grow the business, Aart van Beuzekom and Gerrit Timmer, as CEO and CFO. Their global team includes many PhDs and professors – all devoted to innovation and the success of every customer – providing world class technology and consulting services.
Optimizing the performance of the most iconic businesses in the world, including Coca-Cola, Shell and Walmart, has earned ORTEC the respect of industry leaders globally. ORTEC received the prestigious Franz Edelman Award for achievement in operations research along with express service provider TNT Express and was runner up for the Franz Edelman Award for supply chain optimization and change management with Coca-Cola. DPDgroup and ORTEC also won the 2015 Technology Award at the World Mail Awards for making business evolve through technology.
