ORTEC reaches CO2 performance ladder level 3
Beginning of December ORTEC bv was audited for the CO2 performance ladder; specifically level 3 (of 5). We are happy to announce that we passed with flying colors! Our efforts to establish a new ‘energy management system’ to work on reducing our CO2 footprint have proven successful.
The auditor of DNV GL, Jan van Oudheusden, was very impressed by all our numbers, ORTEC’s activities in general and especially by the City Distribution
research project led by Goos Kant. Many researchers have been working on this project since 2011, its goal being to optimize city distribution in order to reduce urban CO2 emissions by 20% in 5 years.
Considering ORTEC’s organizational CO2 emissions (see figure below), we will explore and implement several initiatives to further reduce those emissions in 2016. Among other things, we will look into increasing the lease cars’ energy labels, applying videoconferencing and expanding the electric vehicle charging infrastructure at the headquarters.
