Software Engineer

We are looking for a pro-active Software Engineer who can think outside the box when needed.

As a software developer at ORTEC, you work in a small, international team of engaged colleagues who enjoy their work just as much as you do.

We are currently working on creating the successor of our existing cargo space usage and route scheduling SAP applications. For this, we need help from enthusiastic engineers that want to help shape the future of our software, so we can continue to make a positive impact on the world and the world’s climate. We build our SAP add-on product in SAP S/4HANA with the ABAP RESTful programming model and SAP UI5 UIs and create a well-integrated application suite connecting SAP processes with first-class SaaS-based optimization engines.

As a small team, of course we also must take care of and work on legacy components in classical ABAP that are still present and required on our way to the next iteration.

The challenge in our team will be to be open and able to tackle many varied tasks and problems in a wide range of technologies for which we must find solutions, keeping the balance between cost and gain as well as old and new. So, creativity, being able to compromise and being willing to constantly learn new things are key.

Your tasks:

• Participation in the design and implementation of our new planning applications with a focus on ABAP RESTful Programming Model, CDS, UI5, TypeScript/JavaScript and ABAP OO
• Presenting your developments to stakeholders and colleagues;
• Participation in planning and review meetings as well as team days for knowledge exchange;
• Maintenance tasks of solutions/versions already on the market/versions when required;
• Further development of the team and the working environment.

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or technical discipline;
• Development and project experience (3-5 years; completed projects)
• Knowledge of ABAP OO, ABAP RAP, CDS, TypeScript and JavaScript or comparable;
• Knowledge of Classical ABAP with SAP GUI/Screens is useful;
• Knowledge in git/abapGit, Azure DevOps, BitBucket and JIRA can help;
• Knowledge of Event-driven Architectures;
• Minimum basic knowledge of how web development works and openness to SAP or experienced in SAP and openness to web development;
• Analytical competence and understanding of the technical feasibility of solutions as well as process-oriented thinking;
• Familiarity with logistics processes helps, but is not required;
• Good knowledge of English language;
• Strong communication skills, team player, a good sense of humor;
• Willingness to be pro-active within a team and to think outside the box when needed;
