As a graduate student writing your thesis at ORTEC Data Science & Consulting, you will have the opportunity to tackle real-world challenges in the holiday industry by collaborating closely with our consultants in this sector. The holiday industry is a highly dynamic and competitive market, necessitating effective strategies to enhance customer experiences and business outcomes. Forecasting the number of bookings is essential in this business and with the recent innovations in this field, this proposal aims to explore machine learning algorithms to improve the quality of these forecasts.
What can you expect to do?
• Review existing literature and methodologies related to machine learning applications and demand forecasting used in the holiday industry.
• Work with real-world customer data related to bookings, prices, accommodations, geographical information, and other relevant variables.
• Design and implement forecasting algorithms using machine learning techniques to predict booking trends and customer behaviour.
• Evaluate the performance of the developed models using appropriate methods.
Who you are?
• You are pursuing a master's degree in a data science-related field, such as Econometrics, Business Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science or Mathematics.
• You have experience with data science and machine learning.
• You have experience with Python.
• You are currently living in the Netherlands and communicate competently in English, both verbally and in writing.
• You are available for a minimum of four months to a maximum of eight months.
• You can travel to the ORTEC office (Zoetermeer or Amsterdam) at least once a week.
