To celebrate the milestone, ABW and ORTEC highlighted several standout projects that demonstrate the depth of our collaborative impact. With the partnership extension, we have the ambition to do more of these kinds of projects.
- Together with The Ocean Cleanup, we developed a model to simulate the cost-effectiveness of The Ocean Cleanup's operations, aiding in strategic decision-making for scaling up their plastic removal efforts.
- In collaboration with the Red Cross “510” initiative, ABW and ORTEC developed a Data Maturity Model to help assess and improve data capabilities aiming to improve the effectiveness of humanitarian aid.
- With AMREF Health Africa we developed a Community Health Analytics Dashboard to visualize complex health data, enabling data-driven decision-making and targeted interventions in Kenya.

At the inception of ABW, the vision was for the institute to grow into a broader movement with significant impact and a diverse network of partners. Reflecting on the progress achieved as the initiative marks this three-year extension, it’s clear how far it has come. ABW has demonstrated the potential of data and analytics to enhance the efforts of organizations working to create meaningful change. This progress reaffirms the importance of collaboration, and the impact data can have on solving society’s biggest challenges.

Analytics for a Better World (ABW) is a nonprofit initiative co-founded in 2022 by the University of Amsterdam, ORTEC, and Dimitris Bertsimas of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
