Chief Human Resources Officer
With a bachelor’s degree from the Hotel Management School in Maastricht (The Netherlands), and a MA in Human Resources Management from the University of Bristol (England), Marieke has a blended expertise in hospitality with human resources. It was during her bachelor hospitality courses when she realized how much she enjoys the combination of people experiences versus impact, which made her decide to dive into the field of human resources. After graduating, Marieke started her career at Deloitte. There, she navigated through various HR roles spanned over 15 years, ultimately becoming a manager responsible for the entire HR advisory spectrum across different functions in the Netherlands. In 2016, Marieke joined ORTEC. Since then, Marieke has committed herself to fostering change and growth within the organization.
In her current position as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at ORTEC, she underlines the importance of ORTEC's people - they are at the heart of the organization and the drivers for creating impact. Her main responsibilities are on HR Strategy, Leadership and Talent Development, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I). Marieke envisions a future where ORTEC's workforce thrives on change, and embraces a performance culture, ensuring the company remains agile, relevant, and successful in the ever-evolving landscape. With a vision geared towards enhancing the change capacity of ORTEC's workforce, she emphasizes the importance of globalizing the HR organization. This vision aligns with her belief that impactful transformations internally lay the foundation for delivering significant value to customers externally.
