This new rating puts ORTEC in the top 5% of companies in its industry “Computer Programming, Consultancy and Related Activities”. The EcoVadis assessment examines our policies, activities, and impact across a variety of social and environmental issues. The issues range from climate change and sustainable procurement to business ethics and human rights.
“The EcoVadis Gold Rating underlines the importance of backing up our social and environmental ambitions with actions and evidence". says Joost Hamelink, Corporate Sustainability Manager at ORTEC. “This year, we initiated several new initiatives, which contributed to our score. For example, we developed a new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policy, and we started compensating our CO2 emissions, making us a carbon neutral company. For next year’s assessment, we aim to further strengthen our social and environmental performance to further improve our score in the EcoVadis assessment.”
ORTEC becomes carbon neutral

To mark our 40 year’s anniversary and our next steps to a better world, we compensated our entire CO2 emissions of 2020 and 2021, which is close to 3,500 tonnes. This is roughly comparable to the CO2 absorption of 20,000 trees. Based on the earth’s circumference of 40,075 kilometers, it means that we are compensating CO2 emissions equaling 445 trips around the world by car. These are our first years operating with net-zero carbon emissions.

In its assessment, EcoVadis looks at integration of Environmental and Social Governance criteria into business and management systems, and how these are reflected in actions and results. Our efforts to reduce and compensate CO2-emissions, promote healthy working conditions, and safeguarding data security, all had a positive impact on our score for the EcoVadis assessment.
