E-Commerce and the Same-Day Delivery Movement

Traditional U.S. grocery logistics long revolved around next-day fulfillment. But as same day grocery delivery leapfrogged into the mainstream, expectations changed.

Stores shifted from being just retail points to hybrid fulfillment hubs—enabling fast last mile delivery with high accuracy and speed.

Daniël van Gool earned his degree in Business Administration & Management at Erasmus University Rotterdam and completed advanced courses in supply chain and logistics. Starting his retail career at Albert Heijn, he went on to develop and lead digital and fulfillment transformation for Ahold Delhaize, first in Europe and later in the U.S. In his current role as Vice President of Fulfillment Strategy & Solutions at Peapod Delivery Labs, van Gool oversees the fulfillment roadmap, investment strategy, and technology innovation powering the group’s U.S. e-commerce operations.
