From ORTEC’s inception, when our founders bonded over Monopoly and foosball, we have believed in the importance of sports and competition. From chess to soccer, from table tennis to beach volleyball, whenever possible we have supported and encouraged our employees to be active and compete in different arenas.
Optimize in sports
Whichever arena they enter, ORTEC employees often start thinking about how to optimize the players or even the arena itself. For example, while sponsoring one of the Netherlands’ top volleyball teams, we started analyzing their statistics.
Performance analytics in sports
Eventually, this led to commercialization of our ideas to further improve volleyball, but also expand to other sports: improving analytics for soccer, hockey, ice skating and beach volleyball. Consequently, we helped improve both individual as well as team performances. In 2014, among other things we provided statistical analyses at the hockey World Championships and the soccer World Championships, and we helped improve the performance of the Dutch Olympics ice skating team.
Stimulating sports globally
Our groundbreaking expertise in this field also led to numerous social initiatives and the provision of our resources to stimulate sporting achievements globally. In Ethiopia for example, we offer sports analyst placement programs that enable young people to receive training, work experience and financial support for continuing their education upon completion of their contract.
Strong connection with professional athletes
ORTEC employs several ex-professional athletes who conduct numerous sports clinics around the world, on a pro bono basis. In addition, we collaborate with InnoSportNL, a foundation initiated by NOC*NSF and TNO, with whom we developed a Talent Tracking System that supports young professional athletes to track and analyze factors that can influence their performance. This system will also provide benefits for sports organizations by providing a knowledge base for sports development.
ORTEC is committed to sports sponsorship to encourage people all over the world to enjoy being fit and active in a (team) sport.
