Job description

As a Business Development Manager (Hunter) you drive sustainable growth by identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities across various industries. With a deep understanding of supply chain planning and operations, you confidently position data-driven solutions that improve efficiency, resilience, and long-term performance for clients.

Reporting directly to the division's Executive Vice President, you thrive on winning new business while working independently. You are a result- driven commercial professional with a proven track record in consultative sales. By working closely with consulting teams and solution experts, you translate complex client challenges into tailored value propositions and high-impact proposals. You take full ownership of the sales process, build strong customer relationships, and lead opportunities from first contact to successful deal closure.

About ORTEC Data Science & Consulting

Join the dynamic Data Science & Consulting (DS&C) division in our mission to be the leading partner in delivering business value through effective data-driven decision making. We provide tailor-made software solutions, ranging from explorative proof-of-concept projects to robust and sustainable implementations, as well as in-depth studies and IT/mathematical advisory services. Our tailored approach ensures we deliver solutions that have a meaningful impact on people, planet, and profit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver a €2–2.5 million annual new business quota.
  • Build and manage a healthy sales pipeline with clear qualification, prioritization, and progression of opportunities.
  • Identify, develop, and manage new business opportunities within supply chain planning and related domains, with clear ownership of commercial outcomes.
  • Translate market trends and customer needs into concrete, value-driven commercial opportunities.
  • Proactively generate and qualify leads through networking, partnerships, events, and outbound activities.
  • Research and profile potential customers to understand their business challenges and needs.
  • Own the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing, including client meetings and demonstrations, proposal development, and contract negotiation.
  • Represent the company at relevant industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities, while staying up to date on competitor offerings and emerging technologies in supply chain planning.

Who are you

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, supply chain, engineering, or related discipline).
  • 7 – 10 years of experience in business development, sales, or commercial roles, preferably within supply chain planning solutions, enterprise software, or consulting services.
  • Proven track record of hitting €2M+ annual quotas.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain planning processes such as demand planning, S&OP, inventory optimization, and related domains, and how technology and analytics can improve supply chain performance.
  • Proven ability to sell complex consulting services or enterprise‑level solutions to senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage confidently at multiple organizational levels.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across consulting, solution, and delivery teams.
  • Motivated and resilient commercial professional with a strong focus on targets and a proactive, hands‑on approach to market outreach.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
  • Based within reasonable commuting distance of Zoetermeer or Amsterdam, or willing to travel regularly to these locations (Zoetermeer at least once every two weeks).
  • Eligible to work in the Netherlands.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment, combining office and remote work.

What we offer

  • A permanent position with a competitive salary and performance-based incentives.
  • A competitive annual sales incentive program.
  • Holiday renumeration of 8%.
  • 25 annual leave days, additional days from the age of 35.
  • NS Business Card 100%, lease opportunity or commuting allowance.
  • Mobility allowance equal to 3% of base salary.
  • Pension contributions.
  • Compensation for private internet connection and a home working allowance.
  • A well-equipped workspace, including furniture and IT resources for remote work.
  • Development programs tailored to your needs and role.
  • An open, friendly, and informal atmosphere with a strong emphasis on work-life balance.
  • A team of motivated colleagues who organize numerous enjoyable activities for employees.
