Analytics Consultant @ ORTEC

As an analytics consultant I translate the demand from business into what ORTEC is good at: solving business-related issues with mathematics. A lot of times this work involves developing algorithms. These algorithms can be seen as "technical imitations" of our customer’s business situation. Based on the algorithms we try to come up with better business solutions. Our motivation is to make an impact with these solutions for the customers, their employees, and the planet.

It's normal for an analytics consultant to work in a team on a project. The position I hold in the team as an analytics consultant can differ per project and change over the course of the project. I coordinate this with my colleagues and manager. At the moment I really enjoy working as a business translator: translating the needs of the business into the technical requirements. In the next project it could just be that I want to be more involved technically, in other words programming and modeling myself. A mix of both is of course also possible.

I am currently working on an assignment at APG. As you have probably learned, an agreement has been reached on a new form of our current pension system that will be fully effective in 2027. The participants of the various pension funds that represent APG as a pension provider must be aware of what the change means for them as individuals. This is all based on data and guaranteed processes. Together with my colleagues, we are helping APG to be ready for the new pension system.

When you work for ORTEC it’s important that you like to solve complex issues. As an analytics consultant, this requires both communicative skills - to understand the customer’s needs and their goals - as well as technical skills to deliver a suitable solution.

Colleagues play an important role in my daily work. As I mainly work in project teams, there must be a right balance between the project members and the role each of them fulfils. ORTEC does really make sure we as individuals complement each other. It is very nice to work in an environment where you can learn a lot from your colleagues.
