Deurloo started his career as entrepreneur at the age of 13, where his first software company became part of a joint venture with Apple. After his bachelor aeronautical engineering at the Delft University of Technology, he started as IT -manager at MKB Nederland. There he started one of the first business internet startups in the Netherlands, MKB-net. In 1998 he moved to Telegraaf Elektronische Media (part of Telegraaf Media Groep). After that, five start-ups followed, of which the fastest growing, imgZine (currently ORTEC for Communications), was acquired by ORTEC in 2014. Ever since Deurloo has had multiple roles within ORTEC, with innovation and entrepreneurship always at the center of strategy and execution.

“We have to strive for becoming a world champion. Since a world champion is the optimal result of participating in a by someone else organized tournament and an external validation of quality.”

Deurloo: “I started at ORTEC to conquer the world with word-class solutions.” Development and innovation based on market insights and customer satisfaction have for Deurloo always been the starting point. “We have to strive for becoming a world champion. Since a world champion is the optimal result of participating in a by someone else organized tournament and an external validation of quality.” This endeavor should ultimately translate to a customer promise. “Our solutions support our customers to optimize business processes. It means we’re not running away after finalizing the implementation but are making sure our solutions are fully and sustainably integrated in the business process, so our customers can optimally benefit. This underlines the importance of customer partnerships and scalability.” Deurloo formulates this promise as data-driven continous improvement. “Our customers may expect continous, visible value from us. We’re fulfilling this promise through a combination of scalable solutions, the brightest minds and continous customer interaction.”

Keeping customers at arm’s length

The new CPO of ORTEC hopes to bridge the gap between business and technology, both internally and externally. “Entrepreneurship, passion and the unification of technology and business have always been my absolute strength. It’s what I’ve practically done my entire career.” Deurloo hopes to use this strength to further stimulate the outside-in perspective, to boost value creation. “To make sure we develop solutions that create value for our customers, it is important for the entire organization to keep our customers at arm’s length. Our product managers, but as well product developers, are in need to have a deep understanding for whom they give their hundred percent. Catering to these needs stimulates engagement and enables us to develop solutions that better align with the needs of our customers, ultimately leading to maximum impact.”
