The problem

Many organizations struggle with their schedules and staffing. This can lead to employee dissatisfaction and absenteeism. Manual planning often does not meet all requirements, even if everyone is scheduled according to contract.

Scheduling problems

The solution: Smart workforce planning with AI

Technology, such as AI, can strengthen your staff planning without losing sight of the human aspect. Learn how smart staff planning with AI and optimization ensures fair schedules that comply with legislation and wishes.

The solutions

AI can be used in various ways:

  • Demand forecasting: Expected number of visitors, production orders or occupied hospital beds. This way you can see the risk of shortages or surpluses in good time.
  • Scheduling (Optimizer): Where not all wishes are fulfilled manually, an 'Optimizer' ensures that everyone is scheduled in accordance with the contract and all wishes are fulfilled.
  • Self-scheduling: Support self-scheduling (also called co-scheduling, team scheduling, joint scheduling or working according to wishes). Employees can individually create or adjust their own schedule, after which a planner makes the schedule suitable. This offers employees more autonomy and transparency via a smart app.
  • Generative AI: This strengthens the employee experience by, for example, acting as an AI assistant. Employees can easily ask questions about their services or request leave via a chat interface.

The results

Discover how smart staff planning with AI works in practice using examples. Impressive results have been achieved at Schiphol Airport Retail:

  • Sickness absence has dropped from 17% to 8%. This was achieved by indicating wishes, exchanging shifts and making information available.
  • Overtime has dropped by 20%. This is due to better schedules using AI and mathematics.
  • Customer satisfaction has increased by 15%. This is the result of the correct deployment of staff at peak times.
